Royler Gracie has been fighting all of his life. The fifth son of Grandmaster Helio Gracie was already learning the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of three. He started competing in junior events at the age of seven as often as possible and winning most of the events. His success only increased as an adult. A friendly person who is adored by his friends, he is also very direct. Everyone knows where they stand with Royler Gracie. Royler's fighting style has been described in many ways; from reckless abandon to steady and methodical.

What unites these seemingly opposite descriptions is a fierce determination to win, a driving desire to be ready in every possible way. This determination drove him to compete in the black belt ranks for more than 20 years, winning the ADCC Championship three consecutive years, and four World Jiu Jitsu Championships.

Royler has a professional mixed martial arts record of five wins, five losses and one draw. His retirement fight came on September 14, 2011 at the age of 45 when he lost to Masakatsu Ueda via split decision. Royler is currently the head instructor at the Gracie Humaita Academy in Rio De Janeiro, and resides in San Diego, CA.
